Viking 58 Convertible: A Cruising Yacht or a Fishing Machine? Yes.

Viking has long been a brand synonymous with quality and luxury. Step aboard any Viking yacht, and the owner can spend hours showing you all the amenities and extras and quality work built into every square inch.

Of course, Viking also is a brand well known among serious deepwater fishermen. These boats, from the beginning, were built with sport in mind. They are built to run fast, run deep, provide all the fine touches that make catching big fish easy, and to return the captain and crew back to port in style and comfort.

The newest addition to the Viking line, the all-new Viking 58 Convertible, which debuted last fall, meets and matches everything about that high reputation. This is a top quality cruising motor yacht that happens to be excellent at catching fish. The only question is one that can only be answered by its owners: Is this a cruising boat or a fishing machine. We think the answer is “yes.”

If sport fishing is your goal, this yacht has the goods. The stern fighting platform, with or without the optional fighting chair, is a great place to do battle, and is surrounded by four fishboxes (one convertible to a livewell), refrigerated bait boxes, drink coolers, freezers built into the mezzanine wall, plus the flybridge helm and the tuna tower controls above that … all of that and more makes this the perfect choice for hunting the deep blue pelagic species and anything else between there and shore.

But once you take in all the luxurious appointments on the rest of this yacht, you might decide to use her to just cruise in high style. And no one would blame you!  From the super-luxury seating in the beautiful salon to the spacious galley decked out in polished walnut and outfitted with Miele and Sub Zero appliances, to the three quiet and comfortable staterooms and two full-sized heads below … this is a boat that turns heads everywhere one looks.

The pair of MTU diesels in the engine room generate 1600 horsepower each, and the Seakeeper stabilizer helps deliver a calm ride in most conditions. Viking yachts are known for their bone dry ride, nimble handling and high speeds, and this one, which tops out at 42 knots WOT and 36 at cruising speed, delivers on all counts.

Whether you want to get out to the Stream for the big ones, or take her cruising anywhere from Down East Maine to south Florida and ports in between, the Viking 58 Convertible will get you there in style and comfort. We’ve got one of these beauties in stock at Oyster Harbors Marine, so come in and see it, and prepare to be impressed!
