Meet the Next-Generation 58 C

Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube

The Viking Yacht Company is proud to announce the second generation of our 58 Convertible, the successor to the legendary 1990s model that helped build our proud company into a sportfishing powerhouse.
From 1991 to 2000 we sold 110 of our first-generation 58 Convertibles, including the pretty-in-pink Miss Allied shown above. “It was our largest boat at the time and a major milestone for us,” Viking President and CEO Patrick Healey says of the “Gen I” 58.

And now, 18 years later, our “Gen II” 58 C is poised to stake its claim as a tournament champion and the best high-performing family cruising yacht in its class. The 58 arrives as the culmination of nearly 55 years of convertible sportfishing design, engineering and manufacturing experience.

“The boat is ideal for the owner/operator family man or the hardcore tournament competitor,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “She’ll compete in performance, engineering and interior accommodations with larger boats, certainly those well into the 60-plus-foot range.”

The 58 C comes on strong with our signature walk-around center console flybridge helm with flanking lounges, 165-square-foot cockpit and observation mezzanine. The private and comfortable three-stateroom, two-head layout maximizes the vessel’s 17 ft. 9 in. beam. A forward stateroom with a queen berth is standard, with an optional cross-over arrangement. Our design team has done a phenomenal job with the salon and galley arrangement, creating a highly functional open layout with a balanced mix of amenities for entertaining, relaxing or dining.

Propulsion packages from MAN and MTU are offered with the “Gen II” Viking 58 Convertible. A pair of the new MTU V10 2000 M96L engines rated at 1,600 HP each power hull number one.

The 58 Convertible will make her debut at the annual Viking Dealer Meeting and Sea Trial Event September 10 through 12. For more information contact your authorized Viking dealer or Gina Waldron. You can also see the 58 C at her world premiere at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 31 through November 4.

72 Convertible

Poised to make her mark on the tournament trail, our stunning Flag Blue
Viking 72 demonstrator boat leaves New Gretna and heads for open water. The 45-plus-knot convertible, along with our Viking 68 demo, will compete in about a half dozen events this summer in the Mid-Atlantic region, the epicenter of white marlin fishing. The boats, with teams that include many of the company’s principals, function as engineering, design, sales and customer service tools that help Viking build a better boat every day.

The Viking 72 demo serves as a testing platform for innovative technologies, such as Furuno’s new DFF-3D Multi-Beam Sonar and AX Series Radar, which were custom installed on the flybridge by our subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics. The equipment is housed in our signature center console walk-around helm. Another Viking-owned company, Palm Beach Towers, is responsible for the hardtop (including its drop-down electronics box and teaser reels) and anodized aluminum tuna tower.

From the transom live well to the air-conditioned observation mezzanine, the 209-square-foot cockpit provides not only tournament-winning fishing equipment and design elements but conveniences to keep guests comfortable and happy as they take in the action. Just a few of the features on our demo boat include an optional Release Marine Trillion Series fighting chair; a teak sole, covering boards and coaming; a starboard crushed ice machine with discharge; and fittings and plumbing for two on-deck live wells.

Satin walnut adorns the 72‘s interior. The port-side galley has miles of countertop space and two Sub-Zero pull-out under-counter refrigerators and one freezer. The raised starboard dinette seats four comfortably. The second HD TV on the bulkhead can display sonar, radar and other electronics data from the bridge.

Your private palace, the master stateroom, includes a king bed with Handcraft mattress and underneath storage, twin maple-lined hanging closets, a pair of credenzas and end tables and a full-width upholstered headboard.

Twin 2,635-hp MTU Series 2000 V16 M96L diesels power the 72, not only giving her great speed but the acceleration and torque to make this 72-footer handle and feel like a 50-footer. With such high performance, the demo team can travel long distances faster than competitors, a great advantage when fishing the Mid-Atlantic.

Our industry-leading Viking 72 (above) and Viking 68 will both be shown at the Viking Dealer Meeting and Sea Trial Event, September 10-12, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Please contact Viking’s Gina Waldron, or your authorized Viking dealer for more information. Meantime, you can catch them on the tournament circuit. For our demo boat calendar please click here.

Machine and Metal Shops

Over 90% of every Viking is designed and manufactured in-house like this 44 Convertible – resulting in the production of the world’s finest sportfishing and motor yachts. Nowhere is the vertical integration of our company more apparent than in our Machine and Metal Shops, where thousands of components and parts are manufactured by a skilled team of 24 fabricators, welders, machinists and painters.

The Metal Shop, which also consists of a fabricating and welding hub and a paint shop, supplies the Machine Shop with raw materials that are manufactured into finished parts. Above: Welder/Fabricator Javier Torres works on a Viking convertible’s anodized aluminum flybridge ladder.

Left: Machinist Lubosh Porizka operates the Fadal machine, a manufacturing workhorse with 30 separate tools that produces everything from copper bus bars (connection point for circuits) to electrical distribution panels to our unique steering manifolds to various templates, brackets and backing plates. Right: The Fadal has already completed cutouts in this aluminum distribution panel for switches and gauges. Lubosh uses a manual drill press to countersink the panel’s mounting holes.

Viking‘s men of mettle are led by Machine Shop Supervisor Tom Lagocki, right, and Metal Shop Supervisor Joe Martorana, left.
Joe stands next to the 1-inch-thick aluminum saddles used to reinforce our stringer-mounted engine installations. Tom, a 30-plus-year Viking veteran who has been instrumental in the development and success of both shops, shows a drawer-full of copper bus bars used in the electrical distribution panels.

Above: Welder/Fabricator Brian Nevitt uses a pipe crowning machine to shape the anodized aluminum bowrail (covered with protective white vinyl) of a 68 Convertible. Below: Built to order, the rail will wrap around the owner-requested bow pulpit. Brian measures for stanchion height, which fits the rake of the rail.

Above: Frames for air conditioning units await chemical baths before they are powder coated. Below: Viking pioneered the use of powder coating metals for saltwater corrosion and abrasion resistance. Here, Painter Dan Jackson uses an electrostatic sprayer to uniformly apply white powder coat to the aft rail of a 72 Enclosed Bridge. The structure will then be moved into a separate chamber and heated at 400 degrees for 35 minutes, fusing the paint and aluminum for maximum durability.

92 Skybridge
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube

One word best describes the Viking 92 Skybridge yacht: awesome. More than aesthetically stunning, our skybridge design is also functional, combining all the visibility benefits of an elevated control station with the weather protection and comfort of a Viking enclosed bridge.

With her two-level mezzanine and 238-square-foot tournament-ready cockpit with fighting chair, the 92 thrives as a luxury cruising yacht and blue-water sportfishing convertible.
The skybridge command station shares many of the design traits of our open flybridge convertibles, such as the walk-around center console with raised teak helm pod and recessed and protected areas for multi-function displays, engine and steering controls and electronics controllers. With the console’s molded-in step, the captain’s sightlines are enhanced further. The hardtop holds an electric teaser reel and power-actuated drop-down electronics box.

Guests can relax in a pair of finely upholstered console seats or outboard lounges (with forward-facing backrests). For balance and safety, toekick space is built into the console perimeter and at the lounge bases.

A refrigerated drink box and sink is conveniently located on centerline, between the lounges.

Even with its forward wrap-around console that includes a Stidd helm seat and flanking companion seating, the enclosed bridge has significant room aft for an L-shape lounge with a walnut cocktail table to port, another seat to starboard, refrigeration and an entertainment system.

The salon, galley and dining areas are separate but open to one another, with a wide walkway from the salon door to the companionway. Recessed overhead lights along with indirect rope lighting under the valances warm the interior’s satin walnut finish. High-end appliances and conveniences – such as Sub-Zero refrigeration and freezer units – fill the well-equipped galley, and a formal dining area can seat six.

The flowing unbroken sheer, the double black-masked windshields, and the tall swept-back superstructure create an unforgettable profile. Three command stations – skybridge, enclosed bridge and on the EB‘s aft deck – give the captain the best operating position for different weather situations and uses.

Viking 48 Convertible
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube

With the 48 C, Viking delivers a high-performing sportfishing and cruising convertible with big-boat amenities – three staterooms, two heads, galley and salon – that’s still quite manageable for two-person operation and maintenance. It’s a smart, fun boat with luxurious accommodations from America’s best boatbuilder.
Our custom-designed center console walk-around helm gives the captain 360-degree visibility and a clear view of the cockpit. Flanking lounges and additional seating forward keep guests comfortable. The console holds an expansive recessed and covered area for electronics and dual radio boxes.
Our cockpit design plays an integral role in making the 48 C a hard-charging tournament-winning fishing machine. Coamings are rounded for comfort, toekick space provides safety and balance, a backing plate is laminated into the sole for rocket launcher or fighting chair installation, the radiused mezzanine tooling increases cockpit real estate, and large scuppers make for quick drainage.

The deckhouse contains three main areas – the galley, dinette and salon – that function independently but are also connected in an open, free-flowing layout. The master stateroom’s queen-size walk-around bed with a Handcraft mattress ensures restful nights, and there is plenty of stowage available in the maple-lined hanging locker and drawers.

We can power the boat with twin 900-, 1,000-, or 1,200-MHP MAN diesel inboards. The engineroom is expertly finished and blanketed with Snow White Awlgrip for enhanced visibility and easier maintenance. Like her larger sister ships, the 48 C can be equipped with most Viking mechanical systems, such as a centralized seawater and engineroom ventilations systems, an ice machine, a water maker and a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer.

We’re putting the finishing touches on two 48 Convertibles at our make-ready dock in New Gretna, New Jersey, and another pair of 48 Cs are under construction upriver at the Viking Mullica boatbuilding plant. We invite you to contact your authorized Viking dealer to learn more about this very popular Viking model.

Viking 44C – Arriving at OHM Spring 2019 May 1st, 2018

Viking DNA April 18th, 2018

82 Cockpit Motor Yacht
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube

You’re looking at the second Viking 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht, a three-deck enclosed bridge luxury yacht fisher with the performance DNA and tournament-tested cockpit of our legendary convertible sportfishing boats and more interior space and accommodations than any other boat in its class. She’s a beauty, right? Our shipwrights are just finishing up and fine-tuning the 82 CMY for its owner.
As a semi-custom builder, Viking is able to satisfy our customers far beyond their expectations. Special requests are met with a smile and assurances that the job will be done correctly and completed on time. The owner of this 82 added several personal touches to the boat, including the orange bootstripe.
The 150-square-foot teak-planked cockpit is accessed from dual staircases, each flanked by perfectly-placed handrails inboard and outboard. A showcase of intelligent design, the cockpit and after deck serve as an inviting arena for fishing, diving, paddle boarding and other fun water activities. The large centerline hatch provides easy access to the diesels. This boat is powered with a pair of CAT C32A powerplants (1,925 MHP); MTU and MAN propulsion packages are also offered.

Both our 82 CMY as well as 75 and 93 motor yachts can be built with open or enclosed bridges. Our subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics will take care of all your electronics and audio/visual needs in custom installations. Dual wing stations with slide-out engine controls give the captain excellent sightlines and flexibility when docking.

Stainless-steel-framed sliding glass doors lead to the open and spacious salon. The side windows balance form and function, providing ample natural light in a design that complements the yacht’s modern profile. You have more flexibility when it comes to the galley area, which is offered in both an open (shown here) or closed arrangement.
Below, four stunningly appointed staterooms illustrate Viking‘s ability to balance elegance and practicality. The master and three guest staterooms each have a private head with walk-in shower. The forward VIP (above) has a queen walk-around bed and a foredeck skylight.

Our construction methods and materials lead the industry. The hull and deck are resin-infused for great strength in an efficient build. With Dave DeVerter,

Supervisor of 2nd Stage Assembly and Finish Carpentry, overseeing the process, our shipwrights through-bolt the two structures every 3 inches and fiberglass the joint from the inside. Dave is one of the legions of Viking team members who settle for nothing but the best in their efforts to build a better boat every day.

68 Convertible
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube

Running on Viking‘s proven hull shape, the 68 Convertible‘s eye-pleasing profile is apparent from every angle. New photos of the four-stateroom blue-water thoroughbred, which debuted less than two months ago at the Miami Yacht Show, reveal why she’s captured the attention of not only Viking enthusiasts but boating and fishing fanatics around the world.

The optional 1945-hp MTU Series 2000 V12 M96L diesels push the 68 C to a 40-plus-knot top end and a 35-knot cruise. With these powerful yet efficient powerplants and a fuel capacity of up to 2,423 gallons, the boat has great range. The Seakeeper 26 gyro enhances stability so you can always enjoy the ride or stay on the bite.

The captain has superb 360-degree visibility from Viking‘s pioneering flybridge center console walk-around helm. The helm and flanking companion seats are joined by port and starboard lounges and a seat forward of the console. Store an abundance of bait or food in the forward top-loading freezer.

The deck design maximizes the space under the 176-square-foot cockpit’s sole. Our shipwrights laminate an aluminum backing plate into the deck for rocket launcher or fighting chair installation. Port and starboard hatches lead to storage for an in-deck fish box, optional live well tub and dunnage box.

Relax in the salon’s port L-shaped lounge while taking in a movie on the 49-inch HD TV (that silently rises from the starboard walnut cabinetry with the push of a button). The galley, with its convenient island counter, is only a few steps away. Facing the galley, the raised starboard dinette seats four comfortably. The midship master has a queen walkaround bed, two hanging lockers, a pair of credenzas, under-bed storage, end tables and a full-size private head with separate shower.
The 68 Convertible is also offered with an enclosed bridge, which boasts a forward console station, a pod-style aft docking station, a lounge and a custom stainless steel spiral staircase that joins bridge and salon. For more information about either model, we cordially invite you to contact your authorized Viking dealer.
