Viking Introduces the New 44 Open
It might still be early in 2017, but Viking Yachts is already busy creating their exciting new 2018 models. One of those new models in production is the 44 Open, an express-style boat that will appeal to those who enjoy both the thrill of tournament fishing and the fun of onboard entertaining.
Viking’s 44 Open features a spacious 119-square-foot cockpit that is steps away from the command bridge and is tournament ready with flush rod holders, fresh and saltwater wash down systems, a transom live well, and a transom door with a lift gate. Rounded gunwale coamings will keep anglers comfortable while they’re leaning against them to battle a fish. There’s a convenient step box cooler and the tackle cabinet doubles as a bait watch station. An observation mezzanine provides additional seating and the Sunbrella cushions lift to reveal refrigeration compartments and engine room access.
The 44 Open’s command bridge has three pedestal chairs and a centerline helm station on a raised platform providing enhanced visibility through the one-piece fiberglass wraparound windshield. A three-sided Costa Clear enclosure provides all weather protection, and available air conditioning allows you to stay cool when the temperature is scorching. The L-shape settee and dinette seats four comfortably, and the backrest cushion lifts to expose a convenient rod stowage locker. To port, an integral console has refrigeration with an ice maker, and lots of dry stowage.
The salon is generously appointed and features an L-shape lounge and convertible hi-lo teak table. A 28-inch flat screen television and a multi-directional stereo system provide entertainment. The galley is well-equipped, and boaters will enjoy plenty of comfort and privacy with the two-stateroom layout.
