Purpose-built and easy to operate and maintain, the new 46 Billfish provides all the style, fishability, comfort and quality you’ve come to expect from the industry leader in sportfishing boats. After appearing in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, hull No. 1 (above) will head for Costa Rica to begin chasing her namesake.
Like our legendary Viking convertibles, the 46 Billfish‘s flybridge is designed with a center console walk-around helm in a clean, aesthetically-pleasing and highly-functional helm layout. The electronics and navigation package from the Viking subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics features a pair of 17-inch Garmin displays for radar, sonar, plotter and other navigation and communication information.
The 140-square-foot cockpit has room for the whole crew or family. Beautiful teak covers the cockpit and mezzanine steps of hull No. 1. She’s ready to fish, with rod holders on the coamings and haunches, a transom live well, a cockpit bait freezer, in-deck insulated fish boxes with overboard drainage and a walk-through transom door and lift gate.
The 46 Billfish‘s command deck can be completely enclosed and is climate-controlled – perfect for anglers who want to get off their feet and cool down as the boat runs from one spot to the next. The salon-like living area has a roomy U-shaped lounge with a hi-lo table and a lounge that extends along the starboard side. Both seating areas hold rod storage underneath. The forward bulkhead houses port-side cabinet storage, and there’s space for a flat-screen TV.
Rest up and recharge in the 46 Billfish‘s air-conditioned cabin. Featuring high-gloss teak cabinetry and custom Amtico flooring, the fully appointed starboard-side galley has an L-shaped Corian countertop, a two-burner electric stove, a microwave/convection oven, cabinet storage and under-counter drawer-style refrigeration with a built-in ice maker. Easily accessible upper and lower bunks on the port side await weary anglers, and there’s a hanging locker a few steps away.
The first-class accommodations continue in the private forward stateroom, with its island queen bed, a hanging locker, upper storage cabinetry and flat-screen TV.
Since our Media Day last month in Atlantic City, editors have been giving the 46 BF five-star reviews. “This is a true sportfishing machine in a segment of the market that’s been overlooked for years,” said Marlin Magazine’s Karl Anderson, pictured here during his sea trial with Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “It took a boatbuilder like Viking to bring this kind of fishboat back, and it’s the real deal. The 46 Billfish will be one heck of a boat for Viking.”
Please come see us at the Fort Lauderdale show October 30-November 3 where we will have 21 boats on display. Meantime, if you need more information about any of our yachts from 33 to 93 feet please call your authorized Viking dealer.
