The Viking View – The Great Escape

Living Vicariously

Last week Frank and Mary Ellen Rodriguez brought you to the turquoise waters of Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. This week they are taking you on their Viking 92 Fa La Me to the paradise of Isla Mujeres, Mexico’s Caribbean. Here’s a video mate Eddie Twyford put together capturing the fun-loving crew doing what they do best -having a blast! But it’s not just fun and games. This team takes fishing and conservation seriously as The Billfish Foundation‘s Ellen Peel commented, “Beautiful escape… and I’m so impressed with the preparation for tagging and the follow through for tag placement.” This team is certainly a first-class operation.

Pair of Hoos

Captain Pancho Bojorquez recently said “See you later” to his wards. He assisted in loading the Viking 80 Sky Bridge Hooray and the Valhalla Boatworks V-41 Hooray onto a ship in Port Everglades, Florida. The fleet heads to Cab San Lucas for a season of fishing adventures. The 80 plans on some serious billfishing while the center console will focus on slob tuna and plenty of meat fish to feed the gang dinner. Safe travels and bon appetit!
Cherry on Top
Check out this Valhalla 41 with triple Yamaha 425s – the first V Series center console with a marlin tower. Custom designed, fabricated and installed by the Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers (PBT), our marlin towers increase visual fishing and navigation capabilities while keeping the captain close to the crew for optimal communication.
This premium polished aluminum tower has a fully equipped upper helm with a 38-inch molded fiberglass control box that holds Yamaha engine display and engine controls (including joystick) as well as a Zipwake interceptor trim control panel, an ICOM VHF radio, JL Audio speakers and a Garmin 8610 chartplotter (with networking). The seat and backrest shape and height have been customized to the owner’s liking. The molded fiberglass sunshade’s underside is Buc Blue to match the hull gelcoat, and its frame features a sexy powder-coated Satin Black finish.
Birdsall manual teaser reels are recessed into the hardtop, which has internal tracks that feed the line to the outboard edges. Other hardtop highlights: a forward integrated radar pod and FLIR thermal imaging camera, dual custom antenna mounts, four Lumitec Mirage Spectrum LED lights with fiberglass recesses and Lumitec navigation lights. The aft tower legs are fabricated with steps on each side and a total of 10 rod holders. This marlin tower is a fold-down version, providing versatility for trailering and storage convenience. PBT also offers fixed marlin towers as well as gap towers. Click here to receive Valhalla Boatworks V Report digital newsletter.
