Viking does more with 44 feet than some builders do with 50, delivering offshore performance, fishing features and accommodations that are unrivaled for this size and type of boat. Meet our latest 44 Open build, a two-stateroom fish-and-cruise dynamo with a Buc Blue gelcoat, Blue Pearl boot stripe and a custom designed and fabricated Palm Beach Towers (PBT) tuna tower.

Going up? The anodized aluminum structure from PBT (a Viking subsidiary) features a 4′ gap tower with a molded one-piece standing platform, a 63″ control box with electronic controls and steering, a sunshade and bench seat with backrest. There are six rod holders welded to the hardtop’s aft rail, and another half dozen on the aft legs. This 44 also sports a pair of Rupp outriggers as well as a Rupp center rigger. The hardtop boasts an integrated express-style radar pod on its exterior and its underside is home to a molded-in rod locker, a teaser reel door and a half dozen recessed Lumitec tri-color LED lights. Like our convertibles, the boat has been designed with a raised mezzanine observation area, which is clad in beautiful teak as is the tournament-ready cockpit.

Got beam? The 44 sure does, utilizing every inch of its 16′ 4″ width. The expansive command deck serves as a second salon, with its L-shaped lounge and table, four-sided Costa enclosure and air conditioning. The port console holds refrigeration and stowage that includes tackle drawers. Commanding from a raised centerline helm equipped with an Atlantic Marine Electronics (also a Viking company) package, the captain is only a few quick steps from the action in the cockpit.

Below, you’ll find an inviting climate-controlled living space with highlights that include Amtico Vintage Teak flooring, high-gloss teak joinery, a port-side dinette lounge with hi/low wood table that converts to a bunk and access to the aft guest stateroom. The feature-packed galley is appointed with polished Sandalwood Corian countertops, a two-burner surface-mounted range, twin under-counter refrigerator and freezer units and a microwave/convection oven.

In the forward master stateroom, the raised island queen bed has a lift-up top with gas pistons and maple-lined storage underneath. There’s also a maple-lined hanging locker, and upper cabinet storage. Air conditioning, carpeting and a 22-inch HD TV round out the amenities that heighten comfort. In the head, the walk-in shower’s size immediately grabs your eye, as does the Amtico flooring and tasteful décor.
