Viking 48
The Viking 48 Convertible hits that mid-range sweet spot for tournament fishing and family cruising. The boat is large enough to hold three staterooms and two heads, but still sized right for two-person operation and maintenance. She can keep up with the bigger boys, too. Powered by MAN V8 1200MHP diesels, this blue-water champion tops out at nearly 40 knots with a swift 34-knot cruise and excellent range.
Every square inch of the 48is well thought out, illustrating our experience as yacht designers and boatbuilders. The interior delights include a beautiful salon appointed with walnut or Juno teak joinery in satin or gloss finishes (this 48 features walnut with a gloss finish). Three social zones meld seamlessly in an inviting wide-open space. The starboard-side L-shaped lounge holds storage underneath and is complemented by a high-gloss wood cocktail table.
The peninsula galley features a bi-level Cambria countertop, custom Amtico flooring, mirrored backsplash and top-shelf appliances; the port-side dinette has comfortable wraparound seating for four; and the 40-inch HD TV nested on the forward bulkhead is part of the 48’s standard home theater system. Premium wall-to-wall carpeting, air conditioning and an available electric-powered salon door are some of the other notable amenities and conveniences.
The midship master stateroom’s queen-size walk-around bed with a Handcraft mattress ensures restful nights, and there’s plenty of storage in the maple-lined hanging locker and drawers as well as under the bed. Lighting consists of dimmable overhead LEDs, indirect rope lighting emanating from the bed platform and reading lights above the upholstered headboard. The ensuite head boasts Amtico flooring, as well as a Cambria-topped vanity and a large walk-in shower with a brushed aluminum-framed bi-folding door.
This particular 48 Convertible features a Snow White gelcoat, Rupp outriggers and a custom hardtop with electric teaser reels and a dropdown electronics box. In the cockpit, equipment includes haunch-mounted rod holders (three on each side), an ice machine with discharge into a cockpit sole box, a Seakeeper 9 and both 12V and 24V outlets. Forward, she’s outfitted with a bowrail and pulpit, bow thruster, as well as a Lewmar stainless steel windlass.
Our 44, 48 and 54 are each offered in four different models – convertible, open, sport coupe and sport tower. One of our latest 48 Sport Towers, sporting a custom Vivid Red exterior and Palm Beach Towers gap tower, will be delivered to our Japanese dealer, Quay Side, in early spring.
