Boat Winterization Service: It’s That Time

Time keeps ticking and the onset of the fall months is a reminder that it’s time to schedule your boat Winterization service.

Here on Cape Cod and southeastern New England, it’s important to prepare your boat for its long winter rest. Inboard and outboard engines need to be prepped for long months of freezing conditions, and your boat and its systems needs to be serviced for winter storage as well.

Over the years, our customers have come to trust the factory authorized technicians in our Service Department to handle these important preparations. Our technicians are certified by Yamaha, Mercury and Seakeeper and get all the latest factory and warranty information that they need to service your equipment.

During your boat Winterization service, we’ll go over your boat from stem to stern and perform all the important service steps required to keep your boat safe during the cold months and be ready to roar into life when warm weather returns next spring.

Some of the steps we’ll take include:

  • Clean and inspect the hull, props, rudder and shaft and other exterior parts, looking for damage and corrosion.
  • We drain, dry and wash the bilge area with soap and water, then spray any exposed parts with light oil.
  • All drain plugs are opened and left that way during the winter, to allow any rain or melting snow to escape.
  • All freshwater systems need to be drained before winter. This includes water lines, livewells, and head connections. Once drained, we’ll bleed the lines with non-toxic antifreeze to make sure no damage occurs.
  • We will also run a fuel stabilizer through the fuel system.

Don’t delay! Call our Service Department today and book your appointment for Boat Winterization Service.  Our appointment book fills up fast, and space is limited, so do it today!
