Best in Class – The Viking 44-Convertible

When it comes to open-bridge design in motor yachts that can switch back and forth from powerful fishing machines to comfortable cruising boats, few brand names have as much to offer as Viking.

Oyster Harbors Marine has carried the Viking line for many years, and we’re constantly amazed at the quality and the components that the factory builds into every boat.

We’ve got one of the Viking 44C models at our docks right now, a brand new 2020 model, and this boat is a perfect example of what you can get in a well-designed, modern pleasure craft.

Start with the ride and comfort. Viking’s traditional raked bow and the widest beam in its class, this boat will handle almost any sea conditions with ease, slicing through waves and with extra lift and support in the aft deadrise. Of course, the factory installed 1,000 horsepower Volvo engines will put you in control of the conditions, not the other way around.

This beauty is controlled from the flybridge helm. Sightlines are excellent and the electronic controls by Garmin are extensive. Other boats claim to leave room for adding extras and more screen: the Viking 44C already has almost every electronic device you could want.

Comfort and luxury are the words to describe the enclosed midships salon, with glossy finish teak panels and top-grade Corian countertops. The air-conditioned salon, with the distinctive Viking black-slash windows, contains upgraded sofas for socializing, dining and a fully equipped galley.

Below decks, the master stateroom has a queen-size walkaround bed with maple-lined  drawers beneath, flanking night tables, carpeting, a maple-lined hanging locker, a 28-inch flat-screen television and stereo speakers. The head includes a fiberglass shower stall, Amtico flooring and a vanity with teak door and Corian countertop.

The forward stateroom has a double and a single berth in an over and under crossover arrangement. A second well-appointed head and shower serve this stateroom.

For fishing, the 119-square-foot cockpit comes with an arsenal of standard equipment such as flush rod holders, fresh and salt water wash down systems, a transom live well, a transom door with lift gate, tackle stowage, a step-box cooler and an in-deck fish and a stowage well.

Want more? Our Viking 44C also has a Seakeeper Gyro stabilizer, Rupp outrigger spreaders, DC bow thrusters, and twin Lumishore Supra underwater lights.

This magnificent machine is fully loaded and ready to sail. Stop in at our Osterville location and take a look. But be prepared for your jaw to drop.
