Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Canvas and Upholsterer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine canvas and upholstery work, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship. This role involves fabricating, repairing, and installing various canvas and upholstery components on marine vessels. On-the-job training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and install marine canvas products such as bimini tops, enclosures, covers, and awnings.
- Upholster and repair boat seating, cushions, and other interior and exterior marine furnishings.
- Measure, cut, and sew canvas and upholstery materials with precision and attention to detail.
- Work with various materials, including vinyl, Sunbrella, and other marine-grade fabrics.
- Ensure all work meets the high standards of Oyster Harbors Marine and our clients’ expectations.
- Collaborate with the service team to schedule and prioritize work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly cared for.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in marine canvas and upholstery work.
- Proficiency with sewing machines, hand tools, and other upholstery equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Physical ability to lift and handle heavy materials and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the marine industry.
- Knowledge of different types of marine fabrics and materials.
- Certification in upholstery or related fields.
