The 46' Eastbay is built on the same platform as the popular and successful 45SX. Upon casual inspection the boats appear to be very similar however the incorporation of the Zeus Pod Drive system in the 46' created a ripple effect of crucial differences. The standard features of Zeus Pods, increased speed and performance with similar horsepower, joystick maneuverability, sky hook and integrated autopilot are all noteworthy. It is, however, some of the other changes and benefits of the Pods which make the 46SX truly exceptional.
The machinery all moves aft from under the salon to below the cockpit. Main engines, pods, genset, air conditioning units, pumps etc. all move aft to an immaculate fully gel coated engine room under the cockpit. The benefits to this are numerous, no longer are mechanics and technicians entering the engine room through the salon. All noise making machinery is now located outside the main cabin making the 46' whisper quit when underway, shouting to your crew is a thing of the past.
As the engines and other gear move aft the space below the salon has been transformed into a utility room. Accessible through a hatch in the salon floor or through a door behind the galley steps the utility room on "Pegasus" houses a separate washer and dryer along with a freezer for long cruises. There is also ample storage space.
"Pegasus" features a double cabin master forward with an island queen berth, office/guest stateroom to starboard, a single head with roomy stall shower to port and a generous down galley which is open overhead to the salon/helm deck. Helm deck/Salon includes Stidd helm seat, double Stidd companion seat, a large setee to starboard and a large U-shaped dinette with hi/low table to port.
Enter the salon from the cockpit and you will be immediately struck by the famous stunning Grand Banks teak interior. The interior wood has a satin finish on all flat surfaces and high gloss on all trim work. The end result is an easy to maintain finger print friendly interior while the high gloss trim delivers the wow factor all have come to expect from Eastbay.
Upon entry to the salon the curved aft glass panels give way to large opening side and front windows creating an open and airy environment and outstanding visibility in all directions. Overhead is an electric sunroof which adds much to the environment.
To starboard is a long comfortable bench settee framed at the forward end by a custom teak end table with cabinets below which houses bottles and glasses. Just forward of the cabinet is the helm which includes Stidd Helm seat and a custom layout of engine controls, joy stick, and NAV electronics. To port is an oversized U-shaped settee/dinette with a lovely teak high/low table with flip leafs. Forward of the dinette is a custom oversized pop-up 32" Samsung TV on a stainless steel swivel. Forward of the TV is the custom double Stidd companion seat. The seat is mounted on a teak cabinet with drawers below where a BOSE Lifestyle 48 entertainment has been installed.
Down 4 steps from the salon is The Galley with Black granite countertops, a Princess ceramic glass electric cooktop, Microwave/Convection oven, under counter teak faced Coolmatic refrigerator, a top load in 12V Counter freezer, and a stainless steel backsplash and vent.
The galley also includes top load dry storage, large stainless steel sink, faucet, drawers with dish and glass organizers, flatware drawer, and Grand Banks china set.
The master stateroom is forward and configured with an island queen berth with large drawers beneath. Custom mattress, fitted bedding with shams and throw pillows adorn. The cabin sides are beautifully built out with numerous cabinets, lockers and drawers with hull sides finished with exquisite teak planking. The headliner is suspended Nautilux vinyl with Cantalupi lighting. There are also two opening stainless steel port lights and a teak trimmed Bomar hatch overhead. The head with separate stall shower is accessible en-suite from the master as well as the companionway.
Opposite the galley is one of the most clever uses of space I have ever encountered in a mid-40's Express Cruiser, The 46' Eastbay office/Guest Cabin.
Accessible through a double set of teak pocket doors is the office. It features a long comfortable L-shaped settee, a drop down desk with comfortable stool and a large hanging locker. "Pegasus is also outfitted with a recessed 26" TV. The perfect spot to watch a movie, curl up with a good book or enjoy conversation with another guest in the galley.
Cruising with another couple or the grandchildren simply pull out the settee, close the pocket doors and your guests will be comfortable in the double bed in the now private second stateroom. Truly the best of both worlds.
The head compartment is to port aft of the master stateroom and is accessible from the master or the companionway. It is a generous size with granite counter top and houses a separate stall shower, vacuflush toilet and a stainless steel port light.

Another area of tremendous improvement with the 46'SX is the layout of the cockpit. While the 45' lacked for seating the 46' excels. "Pegasus" was built with aft and forward facing molded fiberglass bench seats. Both seats have been upholstered with fashionable Sumbrella cushions and Sumbrella covers. There are matching cabinets port and starboard on the forward bulkhead with an icemaker installed in the starboard cabinet. The cockpit sole is teak and was just re-sanded this spring. Other notable exterior options include Flag Blue Awlrip Hull, Textilene covers for all exterior windows, Dorade Boxes with chrome cowl vents and Cabin house teak trim.
