Exciting Progress on Viking’s New 37 Billfish

The folks at Viking Yachts are making exciting progress on their new 37 Billfish, as their shipwrights have been busy carefully crafting their first six Billfish hulls.

From installing fly bridges to securing rub rails, Viking’s shipwrights have been preparing these first hulls to hit the water early next year. The 37 Billfish is scheduled to be unveiled at Viking’s 21st annual VIP Boat Show Preview at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida, on February 3 and 4, 2017. When it is released, this sporty convertible will break new ground in its class as both a highly-capable sportfishing boat and a comfortable family cruiser.

The new Viking 37 Billfish boasts a style reminiscent of the classic day boats of the 1950s and 60s while having the fishing features to make it a contender in any offshore tournament. It will have a spacious 86-square-foot cockpit equipped with a bait freezer, tackle stowage, a transom door with a lift gate, insulated fish boxes and a transom live well. The open salon will provide protection from the elements with a comfortable U-shape dinette and hi-lo fiberglass table, which can convert to a bunk, opposite a cushioned lounge.

While fishing amenities make this a great sportfishing boat, the 37 Billfish will also have the creature comforts to make it an enjoyable family cruiser. Thanks to its beam of nearly 14 feet, it will have a spacious, air-conditioned layout down below. A private stateroom in the bow will be able to accommodate a single queen bed or over and under berths. There will be plenty of stowage thanks to a pair of maple-lined hanging lockers, starboard hull-side cabinetry, under berth drawers, and a fishing rod shelf. The entertainment system will include a 20-inch flat screen television, a CD/DVD player, stereo, and an auxiliary input. And the L-shape galley will feature Corian countertops, a stainless-steel sink, an electric cooktop, a microwave/convection oven, under counter drawer-style refrigeration, and spacious cabinetry.
