Viking’s Newest Convertible
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube
Our new Viking 44 Convertible will use the same proprietary running surface as our 44 Open, giving her the high performance of a Viking express fishing boat, and the stylish deckhouse, expansive salon and luxurious accommodations of a Viking convertible.
She’s a comfortable, capable tournament contender with the largest flying bridge in her class, equally capable of running fast to the canyons on gnarly Northeastern weather days or blasting over to the Bahamas in 90-degree heat. Captains will appreciate the 360-degree visability of the 44 C’s center console walk-around helm. Surrounded by comfortable seating, the helmsman can enjoy conversations with guests while operating the boat from an autonomous command center.
You’ll have 119 square feet of battleground in a cockpit that’s armed with an arsenal of standard equipment such as flush rod holders, fresh and salt water wash down systems, a transom live well and a transom door with lift gate, tackle stowage, step-box cooler and an in-deck fish and a stowage well.
No other company has more experience and know-how building convertible sportfishing yachts than Viking, which was founded more than five decades ago. “We’re constantly working to perfect our hull designs,” says Paul Raposa, Viking Engineering Manager. “In this picture (right), you can see prop pockets, chines, strakes and the hull deadrise. All these design elements, which are always evolving and getting better, will factor greatly into the 44 C’s seakindly and dry ride.”
“The 44 C’s wave-slicing entry angle gradually flattens moving aft where the deadrise provides lift and support for exceptional performance,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “The downturned chines and strakes knock down spray, but also contribute to lift and stability.”
Viking will introduce the 44 C at our invitational 22nd Annual VIP Boat Show Preview, February 2-3, 2018, at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida. You can also see the yacht at its world premiere at the Yachts Miami Beach boat show February 15-19. For more information about the Viking 44 C, contact your authorized local dealer.

The Viking 75 Motor Yacht was an instant hit with its style, luxury, and performance when it launched. But this new model also offered several features not typically found in its LOA, including a climate-controlled enclosed bridge with a retractable sunroof. The hull was designed to run strong like a Viking convertible, and the deck layout provides space to relax under way as well as at dockside.

The salon is a spacious environment for entertaining. The sliding glass aft door opens the area from the teak-planked aft deck to the casual dining area forward of the galley. Large salon windows bring in plenty of natural light to further accent the spaciousness. The interior spiral staircase leads to the enclosed bridge, revealing Viking‘s commitment to an artful use of space.
The fore and aft open galley arrangement, with its world-class appliances, provide practicality within another social area.
Talk about waterfront dining. With its large wraparound seating, the aft deck’s dinette area is the perfect place for big family dinners.
Impressive and elegant, the full-beam master stateroom provides privacy and comfort. Three additional staterooms deliver similar amenities for family and guests. Crew quarters with private access are provided aft.
Viking pioneered the enclosed bridge for convertible yachts, and aboard the 75 MY, the bridge showcases our experience with this design. The forward helm provides excellent visibility. The navigation package provided by our subsidiary Atlantic Marine Electronics ensures turnkey delivery. Come aboard for a virtual tour here.
The 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht is everything that makes the 75 MY special with a 108 square-foot cockpit providing an excellent platform for fishing. The cockpit abounds with fishing amenities typically found aboard our convertibles including flush rod holders, a transom fish box, a bait freezer, tackle stowage, and a transom door with a lift gate. A nine-foot-wide lounge molded into the mezzanine has ample stowage compartments and engineroom access.
The 82 CMY also has a strikingly attractive open bridge with a centerline helm forward delivering excellent sightlines. Abaft the helm, the area is devoted to experiencing the outdoors. A dinette, a wet bar, refrigeration, and an electric grill help get the party started. Further aft there is a sun pad, room for lounge chairs and a tender, and a teak planked staircase to the after deck. Both the 75 MY and the 82 CMY represent Viking‘s commitment to build a better boat every day. We invite you to contact your Viking dealer to learn more about these exciting motor yachts and to arrange a sea trial.

The Viking 48 Convertible is in that mid-range sweet spot for tournament fishing and family cruising. Fast, maneuverable and comfortable, this boat is an overachiever and represents the best in its class.

Whether relaxing back at the dock after a day on the edge trolling for white marlin in the northern offshore canyons, or enjoying the air-conditioned comfort following an afternoon cruise in the Abacos, the salon welcomes you into spacious surroundings. There is ample sitting room for a crowd on the L-shape lounge to starboard, as well as forward on the port side at settee with a convenient dinette table. Entertainment is provided with the 40-inch flat-screen television and a home theater system with surround sound and a Blu-Ray player.
The galley is equipped to handle breakfast, dinner and anything in between with a microwave/convection oven, an electric cooktop, under counter drawer-style refrigeration, a deep stainless-steel sink and plenty of workable counter space. An abundance of drawers and deep lockers lets you stock up with supplies to keep the crew happy for a week or more.

A queen-size walk-around bed with a Handcraft mattress ensures restful nights, and there is plenty of stowage available in the maple-lined hanging locker and drawers. A 28-inch flat screen, a stereo and DVD are included. The master head includes a sizable fiberglass shower stall, an under mounted sink in the vanity, Amtico flooring, air conditioning, and an electric MSD.  Two additional staterooms offer upper and lower beds and share a second head.

The 124 square-foot bi-level cockpit provides an observation mezzanine. Beneath the Sunbrella cushions are stowage, a freezer, and engineroom access, as well as an insulated step box cooler.  In the lower cockpit there is a transom live well, a transom door with a lift gate, flush rod holders, a tackle center, in-deck fish box and stowage bins and an aluminum plate laminated into the cockpit sole for mounting a fighting chair, a rocket launcher or a table.  If all of your fishing or cruising time is spent in tropical environs, you can add cockpit air conditioning to beat the heat. The lazarette is prepped for a Seakeeper 9 gyro stabilizer for installation at the factory or at a later date.

Viking‘s tournament-proven center console helm delivers excellent sightlines and a good amount of seating on the flanking and forward lounges. The DC power-assisted hydraulic steering is smooth and effortless, and the single lever electronic engine controls are silky smooth prompting eager response from the MAN V8 1200 CRM engines, which deliver mid 30 knot cruise speeds and a top end of nearly 40 knots depending load, sea state and other environmental factors. Viking subsidiaries Atlantic Marine Electronics and Palm Beach Towers can outfit the 48 Convertible with any number of custom specialties from underwater lighting and navigation equipment to fishing accessories and teaser reels to provide the convenience of turnkey delivery.

The Awlgrip finished engineroom highlights Viking‘s mechanical attention to detail. A 21.5 kw Cummins Onan generator, a gear-type oil change pump for the engines, genset and transmissions, a voltage stabilizer isolation transformer and a Delta-T ventilation system for engine combustion and water intrusion suppression are among a long list of important standard items.
The Viking 48 Convertible is available for a sea trial, and we encourage you to contact your Viking dealer to get aboard and see for yourself why this model is such a popular choice among experienced blue-water yachtsmen. In the meantime, take a virtual tour here
