Viking’s Newest Convertible
Like us on FacebookFollow us on TwitterView on InstagramView our videos on YouTube
Our new Viking 44 Convertible will use the same proprietary running surface as our 44 Open, giving her the high performance of a Viking express fishing boat, and the stylish deckhouse, expansive salon and luxurious accommodations of a Viking convertible.
She’s a comfortable, capable tournament contender with the largest flying bridge in her class, equally capable of running fast to the canyons on gnarly Northeastern weather days or blasting over to the Bahamas in 90-degree heat. Captains will appreciate the 360-degree visability of the 44 C’s center console walk-around helm. Surrounded by comfortable seating, the helmsman can enjoy conversations with guests while operating the boat from an autonomous command center.
You’ll have 119 square feet of battleground in a cockpit that’s armed with an arsenal of standard equipment such as flush rod holders, fresh and salt water wash down systems, a transom live well and a transom door with lift gate, tackle stowage, step-box cooler and an in-deck fish and a stowage well.
No other company has more experience and know-how building convertible sportfishing yachts than Viking, which was founded more than five decades ago. “We’re constantly working to perfect our hull designs,” says Paul Raposa, Viking Engineering Manager. “In this picture (right), you can see prop pockets, chines, strakes and the hull deadrise. All these design elements, which are always evolving and getting better, will factor greatly into the 44 C’s seakindly and dry ride.”
“The 44 C’s wave-slicing entry angle gradually flattens moving aft where the deadrise provides lift and support for exceptional performance,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “The downturned chines and strakes knock down spray, but also contribute to lift and stability.”
Viking will introduce the 44 C at our invitational 22nd Annual VIP Boat Show Preview, February 2-3, 2018, at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida. You can also see the yacht at its world premiere at the Yachts Miami Beach boat show February 15-19. For more information about the Viking 44 C, contact your authorized local dealer.

The Viking 48 Convertible excels both as a cruising yacht for the family and friends, and a sportfisher that’s got the goods to win big on the tournament circuit. The boat is big enough to hold three staterooms and two heads, but still sized right for two-person operation and maintenance. In addition to the Convertible, Viking‘s fleet of 48s includes the 48 Sport Coupe, 48 Sport Tower and 48 Open models.
The optional freestanding teak rocket launcher, which is mounted to a standard laminated backing plate, holds six rods. With its optional Ultraleather-covered cushions and pillows, guests can take in the fishing action in comfort on the observation mezzanine settee. Ice storage is provided under the seat and there’s an insulated storage locker under the mezzanine deck.
The captain has excellent visibility from the 48‘s center console helm, which also gives you 360-degree walkaround access. The console’s forward electronics panel can hold two or three multi-function displays depending on their size. Dual radio lockers flank an optional Release Marine teak helm pod. Flanking lounges and additional seating forward of the helm keeps guests comfortable. Our subsidiary, Atlantic Marine Electronics, will provide custom installations for every Viking customer ensuring turnkey delivery.

Hungry? The galley has everything you and your family or fishing team need for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Amenities include a microwave/convection oven, an electric cooktop, an under counter drawer-style refrigerator and freezer with varnished teak faces, a deep stainless-steel sink, and storage galore. There’s ample room for food preparation on the standard granite counters (Cambria is optional).

The 48 Convertible has two full heads with separate showers, Amtico flooring and teak doors. The guest head is aft on the port side ensuring privacy for the staterooms. The master head (shown here) is forward of the queen-size bed. Granite tops the vanity, which has round edges and satin nickel hardware.

There’s an expansive storage area and two drawers below the queen-size walkaround bed. Teak and maple-lined hanging lockers, teak storage cabinets port and starboard of the bed, overhead LED lighting with dimmer, a 28-inch flat-screen TV, a stereo, and DVD round out the amenities.
