When it comes to designing new sport-fishing models, CABO makes no compromise, building a finished product that is nothing short of exceptional. Industry experts have hailed the CABO 40 Express as the ultimate sport-fisher; featuring a war chest of big-game angling equipment, as well as a highly livable interior that is suitable for long, comfortable stays on board. Plus, she boasts the speed, range and ride to reach even the most far-away fishing grounds…fast.
The CABO 40 Express just may be the fastest, best-running 40-foot sportfisher on the market today. Powered by CMD Zeus Pod Drives, this blue-water hull design provides the strength, efficiency and maneuverability needed to make this design the most nimble, quick and reliable express boats on the market.
The 40 Express is a full-on fishing machine. The helm deck and cockpit total more than 200 square feet and have been carefully designed with maximum offshore angling pursuits in mind. With an overabundance of tackle drawers on the helm deck, searching for places to store your tackle will become a thing of the past. The livewell is lit to keep bait active and is conveniently located in the transom (large dump valves keep its drains clear and unclogged).
Wide, padded gunnels allow angle-mounted rod holders and provide full foot-room underneath to let sportsmen lock into big fish. An aft-swinging transom door with top gate is mounted with massive, custom-built hinges and a stainless-steel door latch to withstand a lifetime of hard use. When the day is done and all the trophy fish are aboard, two huge fishboxes laid flush in the sole and equipped with in-line macerators promise trouble-free operation.
Design & Construction
Each of the 46 bolt heads on the transom door of the 40 Express is meticulously turned on the same angle – a good indication of the attention to detail that goes into every part of this CABO. The side decks are wide enough for quick trips forward for bow-casting bait on a tailing marlin, or for following a big tuna around the boat. Handcrafted woodwork throughout the 40 Express is on par with that of a fine custom yacht. And that’s just the beginning.
The cabin of the 40 Express showcases graceful spaciousness and refined comfort, which belie the boat’s hard-core fishability. A starboard settee seats six and converts to upper and lower bunks when it’s time to recharge overnight. Forward, the master stateroom features a large island double berth with ample drawer and locker space. The galley is fully equipped for fine cuisine, or just for feeding a hungry crew. A cedar- lined hanging closet provides additional stowage and, because CABO is all about fishing, lockers located port and starboard can hold up to ten rods. An optional layout featuring a second stateroom on the starboard side is available for extra privacy when hosting larger crews.
